The Challenge:

Adele.ai, a startup offering on-demand CTO expertise for early-stage startups, needed to craft a compelling product and brand identity to strengthen their application for a competitive tech accelerator. The question was: How can we establish a design foundation that effectively communicates Adele.ai’s mission while addressing the needs of its target audience?

The Opportunity:

Adele.ai's unique value proposition—providing startups with access to expert CTOs—presented an opportunity to create a user-centric platform and cohesive brand identity that resonated with both startups and tech leaders.

Goals:

The project aimed to accomplish three key objectives:

  • Define the brand identity, positioning Adele.ai as trustworthy and innovative.

  • Create intuitive user flows that streamlined the process of connecting startups with experienced CTOs.

  • Develop a polished and professional visual design to support Adele.ai’s tech accelerator application.

Initial Insights:

To better understand the needs of Adele.ai’s audience, I conducted interviews with startup founders and experienced CTOs. Key findings included:

  1. Founders often struggled to find technical leadership they could trust during early development stages.

  2. Many CTOs were willing to consult but needed a clear process to engage with startups efficiently.

  3. A polished, modern brand identity was critical for building credibility with startups and stakeholders.

Process:

As the lead designer, I worked closely with Adele.ai’s founders to shape the project’s vision and execution.

1. Research & Discovery

  • Conducted user interviews to map pain points and expectations for both startup founders and CTOs.

  • Identified key user journeys, from discovering Adele.ai to completing successful engagements.

2. User Flows & Wireframes
Based on the research, I designed user flows that prioritized ease of use and transparency. These included:

  • Founder Onboarding: A straightforward process for startups to describe their technical needs.

  • CTO Matching: A system that allowed CTOs to efficiently assess opportunities and connect with startups.

3. Branding Development
I collaborated with the founders to create a visual identity that communicated trust, innovation, and expertise. This included:

  • A clean and professional logo.

  • A modern color palette and typography system.

  • Brand guidelines to ensure consistency across all touch points.

4. Iterative Design
The visual designs and flows were tested with potential users to gather feedback and refine the experience.

Challenges:
  • Tight Timeline: The project needed to be completed within weeks to meet the accelerator application deadline.

  • Balancing Simplicity and Detail: The platform had to be straightforward enough for non-technical founders while providing enough depth to attract experienced CTOs.

  • Establishing Credibility: Adele.ai needed a brand that could stand out in a crowded tech landscape.

Solutions to Challenges:
To meet the timeline, I worked in agile cycles, delivering high-impact components first (e.g., branding and key user flows). I also focused on creating a scalable design system to support future iterations post-accelerator.

Outcome:

The early design and branding efforts were instrumental in Adele.ai’s application to the tech accelerator, showcasing their potential as a game-changing platform. Key achievements included:

  • A cohesive brand identity that positioned Adele.ai as a credible and innovative solution.

  • Streamlined user flows that bridged the gap between startups and CTOs, fostering confidence in the platform.

  • Positive feedback from users during testing, highlighting the intuitive experience and professional aesthetic.
